Women who Live on the Streets

by Maggie Traynor

To be a woman and persevere on the streets
You have to be careful the people you meet
A proposition of shelter seems rather nice
But in reality, what is the price?
Its hard to be strong when you’ve no place to go
A place for the night would be nice, you know
Out of the oppression, out of the cold
A place to repose as we get old
Yet so many women live life on the streets
A kind hearted friend is who you should meet
A place to call home would be better you see
To live out our lives tranquil and free
